Before embarking on our trek to Everest Base Camp, we had the privilege of visiting the Kathmandu offices of the High-Altitude Mountain Worker’s Welfare Association (HAMWWA). This incredible organization provides critical support to the families of Nepal’s mountain workers, many of whom face immense challenges after losing loved ones to high-altitude trekking accidents.
During our visit, we met with HAMWWA staff and some of the children who benefit from the program. These kids have lost one or both parents and often struggle to access education—an essential tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. In Nepal, schooling is costly, and without assistance, many of these children would never receive a life-changing education.
Through the K2 Adventure Foundation and other charities, HAMWWA provides financial aid, school supplies, and essential resources to help these children build a brighter future. It was heartwarming to see their excitement as they received our donated backpacks filled with school supplies, clothing, and small gifts—reminders that they are not forgotten.
By supporting HAMWWA, you can help provide hope, education, and opportunity to the families of Nepal’s mountain workers.
